Salmon Group Raises $140M to Expand Philippines Lending Platform
Salmon Group secured $140 million in fresh capital to scale its profitable lending operations and launch new products in the Philippines.
Manila-based fintech Salmon Group has secured $140 million — equivalent to roughly 8.8 billion Philippine pesos — to accelerate growth in the Philippines, the company announced. The capital raise combines $90 million in committed financing from investors Spice Expeditions, WashU, and Moore with $50 million in bond proceeds.
The fundraise signals growing institutional confidence in consumer lending within Southeast Asia's archipelago nation, where large portions of the population remain underbanked or entirely outside the formal financial system. Salmon, which describes itself as a technology-driven banking and lending platform, aims to use the fresh capital to deepen its existing lending business while simultaneously rolling out new product lines.

The dual structure of the deal — blending equity-adjacent financing with bond issuance — reflects a strategy increasingly favored by fintech lenders seeking to match liability profiles to loan books without diluting early shareholders. Salmon's backers include a mix of institutional names spanning investment management and university endowment capital, underscoring the cross-sector appeal of emerging-market consumer credit plays.
Philippines-focused digital lenders have drawn sustained investor attention amid the country's young, mobile-first demographic and expanding middle class. Salmon's announcement positions the company to compete more aggressively for market share as the sector matures and regulatory frameworks around digital banking continue to evolve.
