United Airlines Posts Record Q3 Revenue of $17.9B, Up 17%
United Airlines reported record third-quarter revenue of $17.9 billion, a 17% year-over-year gain, despite a sharp surge in fuel costs.
United Airlines recorded its highest-ever quarterly revenue in the third quarter, with total operating revenue reaching $17.9 billion — a 17% increase compared with the same period a year earlier. The carrier also projected record revenue growth for the fourth quarter, citing accelerating investments in customer experience as a key driver of demand.
Diluted earnings per share for the quarter came in at $3.14, while adjusted diluted earnings per share stood at $2.54, landing within the company's guidance range. That result was notable given that fuel expenses surged 62% during the period, a headwind that pressured margins across the airline industry.

Total revenue per available seat mile also climbed during the quarter, reflecting stronger pricing power and robust traveler demand. Management attributed the performance to sustained consumer appetite for air travel and ongoing operational investments aimed at improving the customer experience.
Looking ahead, United expressed confidence that fourth-quarter revenue would set another all-time record, signaling that demand trends remain intact heading into the final stretch of the year. The airline's forward guidance suggests executives expect the post-pandemic travel boom to extend well into the holiday season.
